Mud Saver - shock and battery guard for the R1200GS & Adventure
The BMW GS 1200 has some critical and expensive components (particularly the rear shock absorber and battery) exposed to the elements; not the ideal whether the bike is used off or on road.
A rear shock absorber is designed to be as robust as possible and is one of the hardest working components on your bike. It does however, like most components, have an Achilles heel, the seal block. Should this small but vital component fail your shock will let you down.
Seals fail often as a result of dirt and debris thrown up by the wheel onto the piston rod. The piston rod in turn becomes abrasive and slowly wears down the seal , resulting in the seal failing .
The shock absorber then loses its hydraulic oil and ability to perform as required, resulting in a rider having to crawl along at walking speeds (due to the pogo effect of a failed shock absorber).
This Mud Saver has been designed specifically to avoid such issues.
It offers not only protection for the rear shock, swing arm, the back of the bike generally but also protection for the rider and passenger.
Precision moulded from high impact ABS plastic, it is very light and somewhat flexible, but once mounted it is an absolutely solid component that integrates perfectly.
The Mud Saver is as effective as it is simple. Most people don’t even notice it unless pointed out to them, especially once dirt and mud accumulates.
The user however will know it is there, providing solid protection for the shock and battery and as well minimizing wheel spray and fender splatter. The Mud Saver is just the ticket for alleviating so many points of concern.
The Mud Saver is not a "one size fits all" product but rather one that has been tailored specifically for the varying GS 1200 model derivatives.

RM01: GS 1200 & Adv model year 2004-2007
RM02: GS 1200 & Adv model year 2008 and later without ESA shock absorber
RM03: GS 1200 & Adv model year 2008 and later with ESA shock absorber
