WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT

The Hurt study was the first to document that one of the leading causes of accidents involving motorcycles is as a result of the other driver
claiming not to see the bike or the rider.
There may be a couple of reasons for this - if motorcycles are hard to see to begin with, then coming upon the rear end of a bike at a stop light, where the bike is at its narrowest profile (and the following automobile driver possibly on a cell phone, drinking coffee, yelling at the kids etc) surely must be one of the most dangerous situations a rider can encounter.
Furthermore, motorcycle brake lights are in a central location, rather than at a left and right end like a car's, and to compound matters, motorcycles don't have the automobile's CHMSL (center high-mounted stop light) that places a brake light pretty much in direct line of sight to a following vehicle.
Studies also reveal that human depth perception is affected when a smaller motorcycle is viewed among bigger cars and trucks, making the motorcycle seem farther away than it really is.
Finally, with few exceptions, motorcycle brake lights are pretty inefficient, having remained basically unchanged since the advent of the 12 volt electrical system. Motorcycles have only one small brake/tail light- there just isn't much candlepower available to attract attention.
It seems odd then that motorcycle manufacturers have yet to design a bold, bright brake light for their products.
These reasons and more have created a demand among motorcyclists for ways to improve brake light visibility. The WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT system is a unique and high tech answer in addressing this issue.
In essence it is a “CHMSL" (Center High-Mounted Stop Light) for
motorcycles.
WHAT IS THE WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT is a water repellent auxiliary brake light system designed to dramatically increase your visibility to other road users.
A system comprises:
• An ultra bright 6 LED strip that can be attached to the back of a
motorcycle helmet (or top box, fender or anywhere else)
and
• a 1157 LED bulb with built in radio transmitter

The 1157 LED array has 12 Ultra bright LEDs; 6 are aligned to point straight back, and 6 point out towards the outside diameter of the circuit board, to help bounce the light off the bike's reflector. Three LEDs from each orientation light up as running lights, and the other pair of three light up when the brakes are applied. The overall effect of these permutations
is that the 12 LED bulb is not only considerably brighter than a standard 1157 filament bulb but will also last longer (no filaments to blow)
while consuming a fraction of the power.
With the WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT installed, activating the bike's brakes will automatically cause the ultra bright 6 LED strip to first illuminate steady for about 5 seconds, then start to flash (as long as the brakes are applied ) at the rate of about 85-95 flashes per minute.

The WIRELESS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT also has a hazard/warning flash mode.
Simply press the hazard button to activate a continuous flashing mode.
This is particulary useful when riding in fog or poor visibility conditions or
when stuck on the side of the road undertaking repairs(in one test, the
unit was left continuously in the hazard blinking mode for 5 weeks
without the batteries being depleted).
EASY TO INSTALL

• Clean the surface with supplied alcohol rub
• Peel the backing tape and apply the ultra bright 6 LED strip to the
helmet or chosen surface e.g. top box
• Remove the existing 1157 filament bulb and replace with the 1157 LED
bulb with built in radio transmitter
• Fit supplied button batteries
